And in addition - my night riding goggles are those yellow tint's but I've found that super bright lights from oncoming traffic make it marginally dangerous as it partially blinds me. Any recommendations for these as well?
I'm all ears from those of y'all that right a lot at night!
In spite of what people think about yellow lenses making things brighter, it's only an illusion. Studies have shown that in reality, even yellow tinted lenses restrict light transmission to the eyes by up to 10%.
The first thing to check is where the headlamp is pointing. You need to check alignment. HD have made changes over the years on how to check it. In some manuals the beam is just measure from the floor in others it is a height below the height of the headlamp.
What is important though is you load the bike up as it will be ridden before checking.
Considering you state the beam only lights 20 feet in front of you yet the test for alignment is at around 25 feet and the beam at that distance should be at least 35 inches off the ground I would say your headlamp is pointed way too low.
I would bet at present if you put in the biggest brightest LED lamp it won't fix anything.

The Sunpie I had on my 2002 ElectraGlide had a better beam pattern than the Harley Daymaker that came stock on my 2019 FLHTP. I use the Custom Dynamics Adaptive II head light on my 2019 FLHTP or I'd have the Sunpie set on this bike.
I run the eagle lights (head and passing) on mine. They are way brighter than the stock LED lights that came on the bike. They will definitely be brighter than a standard headlight. Put the same one on the wife’s Dyna, and she likes it, despite hating night riding. I commute to work in the dark also with woody, curvy 2 lane state highways with little to no other street lights, businesses, etc. so it’s dark, with deer, raccoons, and opossums being the night missiles that go out of their way to aim for my bike.I don’t know about the sunpie, but eagle and custom dynamics are the go to for replacement lighting. They are worth the cost. I’m even considering putting a set of Darla’s on mine to make it even brighter. Yes, it’s gonna lighten the wallet, but I’m older, and **** don’t heal like it did in my 20’s, so any addition for brighter lighting is worth the cost.

THANKS EVERYONE for the tips and recommendations. I cant believe Ive been putting up with this thing for so long. And I love riding at night so, all good to know.
The first thing I am going to check though is to make sure the headlamp is aimed correctly first of all. This was brought up in he thread and I think its really wise to make sure thats squared away first.
