Hey MODS...can FXDC get some respect?
Every monthly mag shows tons of pictures of soft-tails and almost nothing of Dynas.
I sat in the dealership 2 years ago and my wife told me to buy "whatever you want" so that I wouldn't trade it in in a couple of years. I had my choice.......I think the Dyna is the best looking bike made by Harley. Mine is a "05FXDCI.
You are right..........we get no respect (just because our shocks are showing)

Strange though, even when you hear a dyna mentioned, it's usually one of the bobs or wide glide. And if it is a super glide, it's rarely the custom.
The Super Glides are not featured as often as other models because the other models have more flash, and general styling appeal. Yes.. yes.. you my think otherwise...
But that is what magazine editors and pictorial calendar makers want -- they want the stuff that makes people say wow.
This is coming from a person who almost purchased a cobalt blue '07 Super Glide Custom. So don't take my comment the wrong way - I think FXDC's are hot bikes, I'd be proud to own one, but it didn't fit me as well comfort-wise as did the Wide Glide.
Besides, if it's really the bike you wanted, and you really like the way it looks... I don't understand the need to see your bike pictured in a magazine, calendar, or anywhere else. You got a real one in your garage!
Sorry, couldn't resist.
I had a Wide-Glide for 4 years, but my back finally gave out and I switched to a Geezer Glide. I know in the parts catalogs, there's not nearly as much stuff as there is for any other model. Same thing when you walk into a stealership. Your lucky to find one full wall section of accessories for a Dyna.

Superglide? whats a Superglide (the question I hear most)
Why does yours have shocks in the back (another popular question)
And 2007FXDC is very right......always a Fat Bob or a Wide Glide
Nows lets start something here.............One of the reasons I bought a Superglide was the engine. The Soft-tails have a 88B engine and the Dynas have a 88A engine. When I was trying to decide which model to buy, I did my homework and found out that the difference is that a 88B is a balanced engine (to run smoother on the highway) and the 88A engine is not balanced (as much or as carefully). I also found out that the "B" engne is balanced by ADDING weights to the crankshaft (was told this by a very good Harley mechanic). Now, being an old hot rodder, I know that it takes both time and horsepower to get that extra weight spinning. Translated - that means the 88A engine will wind up faster than a 88B engine. All of this made sense to me. I decided that I would take the 88A engine just so I could beat the 88B in a drag race if one ever came my way. And the few that I have run against, I have beat pretty badly. They all say it is the added weight of the bike and I just smile.
Long live the Dyna line.

With the FXDC price cuts for 2008 - don't be surprised to see the FXD standard go away soon. the price differential has shrunk significantly, and the FXD is the ONLY dyna left with a bar mounted speedo, making it somewhat of a freak in it's own family.
So the real question is - anyone that's in the market this year for a 2008 FXD or FXDC actually going to buy the FXD rather than the FXDC? If you ever plan on a passenger - and even just a litle chrome - then the answer is NO. The stock differential is $1K. Passenger option has got to be around $500 for an FXD - so that puts the "stock" difference at $500. Seems that you get a lot for the $500 - not much decision to be made? Does HD want to see the Superglide "standard" go away in favor of the FXDC?
Sorry for the hijack.
I still think there are folks out there that want the bar mounted speedo nut not sure that is enough of a fanbase to continue on with the model. [:@]
