I took my electrical box cover off to check a fuse and now I can't figure out how to get it back on correctly! There are two allen bolts but no holes inside the electrical box to screw them into - is it some kind of tension based thing?
ANY HELP would be appreciated as it looks like I'm grounded until I can get it back on.
RE: Quick Help - Reinstalling Electrical Box Cover
does your cover have four, for lack of a better word, probes that slip into four grommets that are installed in the bracket immediately behind the cover? if so put a dab of rubber lube on those probes and push into the grommets. my 02 and 05 are configured in this manner. could be different on an 06. good luck. like i said for lack of a better word.
RE: Quick Help - Reinstalling Electrical Box Cover
Just slide it back on. There should be a little friction when you push it on, that all that holds it there. The alley screws are for show only. You shouldn't have taken them out if you did. I beleive the short side faces the front if memory serves.
RE: Quick Help - Reinstalling Electrical Box Cover
The two studs on the inside of the cover push into the two rubber grommets in the electrical caddy. You push it straight on but you want to keep it slightly tilted and pushed down toward the bottom as you start it or you'll mess up the sticker on the inside that shows which fuses go where.
RE: Quick Help - Reinstalling Electrical Box Cover
ORIGINAL: cardboard
Heh! Heheh ! Excuse me Heheh !
Not quite - when I took the allen bolts out, I warped the box a little bit so it wasn't seating correctly. Even after tightening up the bolts completely I still had to gently reshape it for it to stay put.
Yeah, I guess I should have known to just pull it off (my honda was the same way) but those damn "decorative" bolts got the best of me.
