My buddy has a 2006 Dyna Super Glide and wants to do 10 or 12 inch apes. He would like to do 1.25 inch bar. His delima is, his bike has the speedo on the bars and doesn't want to do the tank relocation due to $$$. Does anyone know of a 1.25" bar that may go down to 1" so he can keep his speedo there?
I got this idea from a guy at work that did this to his2002 Super Glideand I did it to my 2005 Super Glide. Did not care for the way the speedo sat straight up after risers installed.
Buy a speedo bracket for a 2002 Super Glide. Have 2-2 1/2" Stainless Steel Spacers made for mounting on top of headlight eyebrow bracket. Remove Speedometer from bracket and reinstall in 2002 bracket. Remove bolts in headlight eyebrow bracket, mount speedo and spacers using longer bolts. I am at work right now but will post pics when I get home. Hope this helps.
I have no wobble in mine with stock bushings and I've had it over 100 mph many times. The only time I've had wobble is when I wear my jean jacket that has loose arm sleeves that flap in the wind and I can't go past 75 mph.
Hmmmm ! Mabe we need to bring Redneck Budweiser and come to yer house and look at yer bike.
I have 19" apes and I experience this woble at high speeds, especially in the leans. I think its because the bars "flex" a little since they are so long, this small "flexing" movement translates into a wobble from the input to your forks. I hope that made sense, because it sounds a little confusing.
Got a email from somebody talking about lookin in the manual and doing the steering head adjustment. Has anybody tried or gone to the dealer for a stering head adjustment ? Apparently you need to have a torque wrench too.
Got a appointment with the dealer next thursday about the head shake with the ape bars. Also talked to Mark in parts who has a set of I think 18" apes on his bike, He said its not the bars.
Talked to Jim in service and he asked have I checked my air pressure in my tires. He said the apes will amplify things going on. They need it on the rack to check the neck bearings and the spokes in the wheels. He believes its coming from the back end of the motorcycle. I hope they find out what it is. They said if needed they would check the dyna like on my bike that ajusts the way the bike trailes from the front tire to the back wheel.

In regards to the posts about removing the speedo altogether. I am cool with losing the speedo but what about the odoometer? This may sound dumb but does the speedo/odometer keep track of the mileage or is there some form of computer elsewhere that just sends info to display on the speedo? I don't want to lose track of my mileage. I plan to do a conversion to an XL custom speedo over the winter, but would rather just take the speedo off and slap a clamp on it.
I suppose they might work, they are just a little out of budget right now. It would be great if I could just take the speedo off, and then if I needed to take the bike in for service, put it back on and still have an accurate odometer reading. I considered putting a fork bag on and routing the speedo wired into it and putting the speedo in there just to keep the odometer hooked up. This just seems pretty shoddy to me.
Have you been to the H-D dealer and ask this question, They have some handle bar speedo mounts, and a Drag Specialites catalog. You know they are a drag dealer also. You can view drag catalog online, You just have to go to a drag dealer to git parts.
