Just a quick update on the Sundowner seat. I just got it today and installed it. It does in fact move you up moderately and forward a bit. I am 5'11" with a 32" inseam. Unfortunately I had to work tonight and did not get a chance to ride more than a few miles with the new seat. One thing with the higher seat I feel I am at a more comfortable riding position with the mini apes. Before my hands would go numb. So I can say that is a plus over the stock seat. I am of the opinion that with the seat moving you up it kinda negates the slightly forward postion draw back. I still fell pretty comfortable with the mid controls and hiway pegs.
I will give more feed back after I get a chance to log some miles on the new set up. Pics will follow if any one would like to see.
Well, after changing my mind about 20 times, I decided to send off my lowrider seat to "Mean City". I talked to them today and came up with the idea of raising the seat up 1" and also back 1". I am also going to have the memory foam added. I went this direction, because I like the look of the seat on the bike, but I need something that I can also click off the miles on. I hope I made the right choice?
I'm also 5' 10". I got a Superglide that came with forward controls. It was a little bit of a leg reach. I bought the Reach Seat from Harley and i am in perfect position for the handlebars and the forwards. I know it is not the most comfortable seat, but I can handle that pretty well. Been over 200 miles on it with no problems so far.
I liked the stock seat on my 07 FXDC because I can lean back using the slope of the seat and get thatlay backfeeling.Iâm a big phucker and it lets me lie way back and have some kind of reach! After 100 miles my butt tended to go numb so I bought a new Sundowner 2-up seat from HD (In my profile pic below). I was trying to get some *** relief and I liked how in the description the Sundowner was over 2â wider than stock due to my big 6â4â 34 inseam 290 lbs ***!
After I put it on, I noticed it did sit me up 2" higher, I can on guess from the padding but the only problem with the Sundowner IMAO is it sat me 2" forward! After placing thestock and Sundowner seat next to each other on the bench, the Sundowner does sit you forward a whole 2"! I would love to trade this new Sundowner for a Tallboy!!!
Is anyoneinterested?
I hear the Tallboy has the same 2â up but not the 2â forward! So if youâre a normal sized guy and donât mind sitting 2â forward I would recommend the Sundowner! If not, look somewhere else!
Update on my Sundowner Deep Bucket seat. Boy oh boy was I wrong about my last post. After riding about 90 miles today on the new seat I was VERY dissapointed. I knew the seat was going to move me up but I do not like the new height. It puts me at a very bad line of sight with my quick release wind screen. With the stock seat I was just low enough to have a great line of sight through my screen now I am above to top edge quite a bit and I have the screen adjusted all the way up. The seat is comfortable though I will give it that but I can't deal with the raised riding postion.
Looks like I will have a new Sundowner 2 up seat for sale. Any takers???? Suggestions for more comfy seats than stock that do not move the rider up or forward??

The top edge of your windshield should be just under your line of sight so you're not looking through rain drops, road grime, and bug splatters.
Sounds like your new seat, which you found comfortable, has put you right where you need to be.
