I've seen posts on here before where the BG2s didn't garner many favorable reviews. Just wondering about this 3rd generation version.
Do they have the deep rumble? Install looks pretty straight forward.
Very very hard to get the nuts on the exhaust studs on my 07 since the shields are welded to the pipes and can't move.. Also not a good tone at all.....I heard V/H slip ons that sounded better on an 04 dyna and that was even with the quiet baffles installed.... I guess for the price they are just OK.... I just seen in some parts books that carry them they went up almost 200 dollars??? I have BG3 Street Sweepers.....
I'm all ears (well not really) and ready to listen to what anybody has to say Good, Bad, "I heard em on a friend's bike"...
I've got Rush Slip-ons right now, but am taking a hard look at others. Those that I'm considering are;
*D&D Fat Cat 2:1; ( Had Rinehart 2:1 on my last bike nice pipe)
*V&H Big Radius; (Like the look, sound pretty good too, lots of interest out there)
*V&H BSS; (Seems everybody has em)
*Samson BG3 Slasher, or Rip Saw; (kinda leery due to the BG2 issues, but if they've improved over the BG2 I might take the plunge)
The samson BG3 pipes are crap. I had a set of street sweepers for a year and two months.put about 7000 miles on em. Then the welds broke holding the heat shields to the head pipes. I found four that were cracked and one that had completely pulled free leaving about an 1/8th inch gap in the pipe. The bike started running like hell. I contacted samson and they said they only warranty them for 1 year. so I was basicallyS O L. I tried to have them welded at work but the head pipes are too thin ( paper thin) to be repaired. I believe CraigC on the forum also had this experience. I would go with the V&H or Rinehart. If you are looking for a deep sound the Rinehart 2into1 is the deepest sounding pipe I've ever heard. I love mine.
I also liked the Samons initially... but the new BG3s' look just about like a stock set of pipes. only a little fatter... and after Craig Cs' troubles and a few others that I have seen here.. I ruled them out... I am going to get some V&Hs' ora set of BUB jug huggers..
A buddy of mine also has a set of Samons on his Electrica Glide Classic and they are the most annoying.. headache causing pipes I have ever heard.. they dont really even "rumble".. its more of a "blat" sound..
have bg3 street sweepers and have had no trouble. wife says there pretty loud, thinking about selling and going a little quieter. if so would you be interested
