Gromit!, The 95 inch upgrade is awesome I agree. That low RPM grunt from the cams is truly quite a feeling. I married mine up with a SE 6 speed gear set so when I'm loafing along at highway speeds (140 kms) the roll-on throttle response is beautifull.
I have an 05 WG with EFI, K&N / Reflash, and 16 Gauge Harley exhaust and am considering the 95". Is the secret to getting a good result going for the Stage II, which if I am correct is the SE heads? I would also probably do an oil cooler.

This time of year I expect to hear from my dealer with some good discounts on this.

So, is the 95" with the SE heads the right combination for a really nice overall reliable result, not really concerned with the best dyno number possible, if you know what I mean. And, rather than reworking the stock heads, is there a benefit to the SE heads?

Thanks.

Can't comment on the heads issue unfortunately - although the 203 cams work well with the standard heads. Loads of very useful grunt from under 2500rpm to over 4500rpm. Basically a huge wedge of torque to make overtaking a 'twist & go' affair.

Up to just over 400 miles now so am giving the motor its full rein for short bursts. Only problem is a slight weep of oil from the front cylinder's rocker cover - will get it checked out, hopefully just a duff gasket.

As to the 100mph & the cops - things are only illegal if you're caught

I agree 100 %. So, it looks like the 95" with the 203 cams would be just about right, and if the dealer gives a winter discount...........well, just think of how much money my wife would be saving on my WG.

Remember, money spent on your bike is just less money wasted on kids sneakers, etc.!!

I don't know squat about the twin cam, but based on what I've read, the power with a 95" engine is seriously limited with the standard heads.
Don't believe everything you hear.

glad to hear your happiness with the 95 kit . when you decide to upgrade your heads ,and you will , look into getting your own heads done instead of the se's its cheaper and you'll get better performance as you can have them done to match your riding style and cam choice

Will do Steve - the heads are an itch I'm going to have to try to ignore, although like you say, I guess I'll have to scratch it at some time in the future!

I agree totally with your first post the motor feels like it was meant to be 95 inches it feels like its breathing properly now at 88 it always felt like it was struggling to get enough air into it be careful when you get on it hard give yourself enough room to slow down it'll accelerate faster than you realize I can hear my motor asking for the overdrive gearset now

ride on
