I just got the "variety pack" and used one of them out of there... i was in the same situation as you where and did not know what size was the right one...
this is how i fixed two of my holes I drilled out and threaded 2 chrome dice than just used a rubber washer on the pain side and a lock washer underneath the fender and screwed that on.... works great and looks much better... i have also used the liscense plate fasseners that they have at the auto parts store on other bikes i have pulled the plate off. walk around the auto parts store you will find what you want
My brother has a fatboy and was left with the 3 holes after moving his plate. He uses one of those small magnetic ribbons and coveres all 3 holes- POW-MIA, Support Our Troops, Breast Cancer... Whatever...
Kuryakyn makes a cover for this very reason. They claim that it will hide all four holes, not just the triangular three:
[ul][*]An appealing way to cover the exposed holes left in the fender after the stock license plate bracket is removed.[*]Cover installs in minutes and completely covers the "footprint" left by the stock mount.[*]Fits all H-D models with standard 3-bolt fender mounted license plate bracket. (Also covers the fourth hole found on some Dyna and Sportster models.)[/ul] [/align]
And if you want to get really crafty, you can do what I did for $10. Find something that will fit over them, that you like, put some thin, outdoor, double sided tape on it, and stick it there...
