Yeah, not a big deal. I drilled 1/2" hole in each of my stock baffles. A little more sound, which is nice. Handles the same (which is all I could hope for). So now the question is can I put another 1/2" hole in each without loosing too much back pressure (still stock 07 map, so it was already running factory lean)? I'd like to get more sound, but not enough to sacrific performance.
I will only be living with this setup for another month or so, then I'm getting a 2-1 and all that.
Am I good to drill a little more, or should I be happy with what I've got?
I have two sets of mufflers that I have messed with. One set I took a hole saw that just fit inside the baffle and took the entire plug out, sounds better than stock but pops some on decel. The others I used a hole saw that fit just inside the chrome outer shell and removed the entire baffle. That really made it bark but I wasn't fond of the sound, too loud for me. It ran fine both ways and strangely enough the pop on decel pretty much went away with the set that I removed the baffles from.
Won't hurt a thing till you let it breathe, thats when things go lean, and your smooth running, quiet Harley becomes a beast.
Try to remember just how smooth your bike is, before you go to "stage1". It'll never be the same after you let it breathe
