Default Help with wiring!!!!!

Alright, got my gimps yesterday. Had to go with 14" because I spent too much money getting a 2-up set-up for my bike. That ate into the budget for cables and such. Anyway, I was following the "how to install apes" page and ran into some problems.

1. How do I disconnect the white (on one side, black on the other) turn signal adapters. The how to page said use an ice pick and push into the connector while pulling on the wire. Not working for me. Any other suggestions?

2. How do I disconnect the throttle/idle cables from the hand control?

I have a way to run the wires through but I can't because of those roadblocks. I NEED HELP!!!!!

it's not that difficult.... the "ice pick" they're talking about can be something as simple as an unraveled paperclip.... you gotta get into the "molex" connector and pull the connector out of it's block....also, the throttle cables aren't that tough....you gotta pull the entire switch and brake assembly apart from the handlebars (make sure you put a spacer in the brake handle) and then start unscrewing.... the thing with the throttle cables is to make sure you don't lose those brass ferrels!.... you'll see what i mean when you pull it apart.... slacken the cables, first..... and then you'll be able to pull the cables from the grip.... it's not that tough, if you're mechanically inclined!.... and you should have a service manual!

Yeah, I have a service manual...just lost it in the vastness of my garage mess. Got that disconnected but still not able to manuver around the 90 degree angle at the bottom of the Gimps. I was able to fish 3 through, the other three wouldn't budge. I used fishing wire and a nut and that worked. Tried the double fishline, but again the sharp angle defeated me. Anyone have suggestions?

...it's a b!tch, i know.... i gave up and just ended up buying the new switches with the 5 foot harnesses ....fished those through in seconds.....cost me over a hundred bucks for the switches, but forget all that wrestling and kinking and possible damage.....i just ripped the old ones off and out of the steering neck.... today, i'm gonna wire the new ones into the main

...oh, and thing with the new switches with the long wiring harness is that the harness comes with the terminals already on them!... so all you have to do is assemble the molex connectors to them.... no splicing, no crimping....and plus, you have a few feet of extra wiring you can just jumble up under the steering neck and frame- just in case you decide to go with taller gimps in the future.... you got that extra slack

....as far as the directionals go.... i saved the black braided line and used it to cover the directional wiring- directionals will have to be cut and spliced just because the wires will be way too long when relocating them down beside the tubes with the kuryakyn clamps
