Question Throttle cables
Anyhow I was looking at the (connection ?) of the throttle cables going into the wire housing. Is there a way to disconnect the throttle cables from this housing ? They appear to be crimped on but can't really tell what all is involved.
Appreciate any info as a fall away would sure be a lot easier (and more accurate) if I could just separate the throttle cables from the wire housing.
But in my opinion leave that assy. intact since those cables will always be present when you use the bike , so adjust your fall away in cosequence with your cables.
(Edit update->) Well I looked in the parts manual and they do show circlips. But I cannot find my magnifying glass right now and I'm gonna just button it all back up. I feel pretty good about my fall away but next time I get into this I'm gonna have my magnifying headset ready, so I can just get ALL the cable pull off the bars. I'm sure the clips are in there becuase my throttle cables will not slide out the bottom.
BTW, is there a secret to pulling wires into the TBars ? Everywhere I read, it said to stagger the wires and loop the slack back, then tape it all up and pull it thru with a string. And to work it back and forth at the turn.
Well that just did not work with me (on Wild1s) . So I taped only 2 wires at a time to the MIDDLE of the string and staggered the connector pins but did not loop the wire back (no need with only two wires). I was able to pull only 2 wires at a time with minor difficulty (hung on the tape some at the turn down). Then I pulled the string back out and repeated till done.
(end Edit update)
Hmmm I was always told having ANY thing with friction or pull attached would cause the fall away to be inaccurate. Was told you want no pull of any kind on the bearings, are only adjusting bearing tightness without extra add on effects.

I left mine on and adjust to the high limit, in my case 4 inches.
The dealer doesn't adjust at 1000 mile either. Mine was very loose at new. I adjusted at 500 miles and it has not changed at 5000 miles.

with the clutch cable on which is the way I ride, the center mark is slightly to the right but regardless I set my pointer center to the fall away and go 4 inches total from there.
It was really loose when I first checked it new. So if it was that loose with the cables on it must of been off the charts without.
I can see how some have that wobble problem trusting the dealer or factory setting.
My front end feels and acts perfect.
