Seeing as how I'm located in Northern North Dakota (might as well be Canada), the temps are starting to drop (39 today), and within a week or two, it's going to be WAY to cold up here to ride... -70 (yes, negative 70) or even colder...my eyelids have frozen closed (while shoveling, or even just standing there) on quite a few occasions in the past...
I went out and bought all the crap I need to winterize my bike. She'll be getting topped off with fuel, stabalizer added (and ran through for a mile or two),theintakeand cylinders fogged, the battery charged up, disconnected and taken inside, the intake and exhaust plugged up (not sure about the mice trying to make a home around this time of year), and pulled to the back of the garage
Well, I guess this last ride to and from the gas station will be about it for her and I for this year...I guess we'll all see how my will power is over the winter...
I'm facing the same dern thing! Dang it anyhow! Years ago in a bike rag I saw a kit to attach a track to your rear tire and a ski to the front. I wonder if they still make them?
Lol... all these people telling you to move don't realize that you are military! They don't know that only 40% of the population of minot is civilian, and a quarter of them will end up married to military members! You forgot to mention how your nose hairs freeze up and you can feel them moving up and down when you breath. Hate to say it... but I can't wait for it to cool down here. I ride in florida and georgia.
we're not too far behind you over here in west mi., the shops are already talking winter storage. in the a.m. it's supposed to be 39 and in the 50's on the way home, and on saturday a high of 60. i figure about 3 to 4 weeks of on and off riding for us. maybe you can put in for an unaccompannied tour to Eglin A.F.B. in Ft. Walton. it would be pretty arduous duty. are you a buff tech, if so i guess your pretty limited to type duty. buy some bike flicks and any bike videos you can find. good luck.
