Actually, I had something like this on my sporty. It was a low cost way to make it more black and less silver/chrome.

Would the back of the rivets scratch the forks?
Not really for me, plus I could see some kid ripping them off, like tire stem caps that are cool ones.
Maybe if you had seat and bags that had the round style rivets on them, to complete a "look". But I'm not really a fringe and stud kinda guy either.
