Hey Black Bob, what color is your bike?

To answer your question about my windsheild.......... I went for the HD Compact Low- quick detach (love it / hate it deal).
It was recommended to lower it as low as possible, and under the lower triple tree. I couldn't go that low due to my headlight bezel, so I went
to the top of the lower triple tree. That worked okay but got quite a tickcle across the eyebrows with the half helmet on.
Ended up raising the top clamp of the windsheild to the bottom of the top triple (hope that makes sense).
This cured the air blowing across the top of my head. I also have a soft leather tool bag/ pouch strapped to the bottom tree as recommended in another thread. This really seemed to just about kill the buffeting/ throwing the head around thing folks complain about.
The Compact Low is only 14 1/2" tall, but seems to work well for me/ I can look through it, but normal riding position has me looking over the top.
Smoking is not a problem, and except for crashing I could possibly light a cig behind the windsheild (I'll wait to finish wiring in the lighter).
What I noticed has been stated before on the forums, The air I get is coming from below, now ad is controlable. If I keep the knees close to the tank, almost no air comes up in the face. If I spread my legs apart, and stretch out then the up draft blows all the old dead hair out of my beard, and really tickles the ears.
Also noticed, the type of helmet affects the degree of buffeting, none with the half, and some with the 3/4. I don't think I will notice much at all with the modular helmet.
I am pleased with the result so far. No direct wind in the face, none to the chest at all and air seems to be deflected around the hands.
I don't know if the windsheild will ever come off. I like the looks of it and the way it functions. Someday when warmer weather comes back, I may ride without it.

Thanks Doug for the windshield info. I've been following the various threads and one of the common things seems to be air coming up from below and various solutions: lower mounting, bags and even a vest with flaps. All of these mentioned that they could feel a big reduction when putting their arm across their chest. I've tried that and doesn't seem to make any difference. It bothers me most when the air starts to get cooler - makes my eyes water. I may just ditch the 1/2 helmet for a full coverage for longer highway rides in the cold weather.

By the way - colour is black denim - like your vivid black...
