Wake up call today..
When I'm on the highway or driving on quiet country roads I leave it off, but lots of guys run 'em all the time. They may not look as cool but as long as they save my A$$ I'm a happy guy.
There should be a law allowing drivers to be ticketed/fined/points on their license when they pull this **** even if no accident resulted. In my mind it's no different than someone taking a swing at you and you managing to duck, it's still assault.
Congrats on keeping your cool and the bike upright.
The first day after installing the horns...I see a teeny female pulling out of a driveway...I hit the horn (It sounds like a tractor trailor horn)...she hits the breaks and snaps her neck around...naturally she was talking on a cell...I'm going to find one of the light modulators for the headlight...and the horns are staying...
Here's a pic...on my Street Bob...lol

She looked at him and laughed and said there is no dent in my door. Seconds later there was a size 15 Harley Boot making that above referenced "dent" in her door. She looked at him, jaw on the ground and drove off. Carma, what a b!#%h

Last year at the Myrtle Beach Bike Rally I had a Fire Truck run the Red Light without either sirens or horns. I was in the inside lane and did not see him because of cars in the right lane. I had to hit the binders, locked the wheel, released, and hit the binders again - hard. I had to do a slide, sideways, in order to miss the Fire Truck. I wound up with my right side almost up against the truck. Oh Man! It took my breath away.
I got the Blue Tint PIAA bulb - 100 Watts Low Bean & 110 Watts High Beam. I know that Blue Beam aggravates the crap out of me, so I figure its good for the cagers.
I haven't "Booted" a car yet, but I have "Stiff-Armed" a mirror. We should be allowed a rocket launcher for the ones that get away.
It doesn't matter if it's a motocycle, truck, van, or tractor-trailer - some people just don't look - PERIOD. I had an elderly lady make a left turn right in front of me, 60 MPH, totaled my Mustang and split my head open plus internal injuries. I had a young girl run a stop sign and totaled my Pontiac. And the A$$HOLES that pull in front of an 18 Wheeler, have no clue how close to death they were.
We had an instructor at a local community college, who taught the Advanced Motorcycle Safety Course get hit head on by a butt wipe crossing the center line - he was on his bicycle during lunch - and he is severely screwed up. Driver got a $75 dollar fine for crossing the yellow line.
Just be careful.
Ride safe and get some coverage.
Yeah, VERY close call today.
So I was riding south today with my girlfriend on the back in a two lane rode, in the left lane. I'm about to cross an intersection and I see an SUV (going north) looking to turn to her left into a McDonalds parking lot. And she just goes for it! Before I knew it, I'm SLAMMING my brakes, locking up the rear tire swerving back and forth and I barely missed the back end of her car by about a couple feet. I can honestly say, the bike did extremely well. I did not panic, but I nearly lost control of the bike. It was by the grace of God that I did not hit that car or drop the bike. The bike did stall out, as I was not concentrating on holding the clutch in. I was focused on braking as quickly as possible. So as my girlfriend was balling her eyes out, I turn the bike back on, after making sure she was ok of course, turned around, pulled up next to her and let her have it. I don't think I've ever yelled at someone like I did. She says "I'm sorry, I just didn't see you.. I don't know what else to tell you." Unbelievable.. she must have been 17-18 years old.
Folks, ride safe, be careful of those dumb a*s teanage b*t*h*s. Sorry for the crude language, but I'm just extremely upset and the brand new Harley that I almost bought would have been completely totaled. I was planning on putting insurance on the bike next week, but I guess I'm getting it sooner..
I've never locked up the brakes on my vulcan 900 custom, but my Harley streetbob handled wonderfully. I don't know if I would of had the same result with my vulcan 900 custom, but I'm just glad I rode away from that.
Cheers,
Adrian
