Wake up call today..
So I was riding south today with my girlfriend on the back in a two lane rode, in the left lane. I'm about to cross an intersection and I see an SUV (going north) looking to turn to her left into a McDonalds parking lot. And she just goes for it! Before I knew it, I'm SLAMMING my brakes, locking up the rear tire swerving back and forth and I barely missed the back end of her car by about a couple feet. I can honestly say, the bike did extremely well. I did not panic, but I nearly lost control of the bike. It was by the grace of God that I did not hit that car or drop the bike. The bike did stall out, as I was not concentrating on holding the clutch in. I was focused on braking as quickly as possible. So as my girlfriend was balling her eyes out, I turn the bike back on, after making sure she was ok of course, turned around, pulled up next to her and let her have it. I don't think I've ever yelled at someone like I did. She says "I'm sorry, I just didn't see you.. I don't know what else to tell you." Unbelievable.. she must have been 17-18 years old.
Folks, ride safe, be careful of those dumb a*s teanage b*t*h*s. Sorry for the crude language, but I'm just extremely upset and the brand new Harley that I almost bought would have been completely totaled. I was planning on putting insurance on the bike next week, but I guess I'm getting it sooner..
I've never locked up the brakes on my vulcan 900 custom, but my Harley streetbob handled wonderfully. I don't know if I would of had the same result with my vulcan 900 custom, but I'm just glad I rode away from that.
Cheers,
Adrian

RIDE SAFE!!!!![/align]
Congrats on keeping your cool and the bike upright.
It really saddens me that there are a lot of bikers on the road who ride very carefully and have to worry about accidents because of someone else's stupidity. Most motorcycle accidents are caused by cagers not paying attention. Yeah, you have the stupid crotch rocket idiots going 150 who splatter themselves into a tree or bridge abutment, but that's just natural selection at work. Those of us who are careful still have to watch out. Glad you made it through that OK AdrianVall. Hope you scared the crap out of the kid driving the piguv.

Good you didn't freak and kept your ride upright.
Young girls on cell phones really are the scariest drivers. What is really scarey, I don't think they would grieve much if they killed someone.
We are just in their way. B!tches is about right.
Keep riding safe,
