Well,
Got the lighter completely installed and wired in. Had enough room in the electrical panel cover for a 15amp inline fuse.
Works like a charm!!
Only problem now is I got so excited about the new lighter, I threw all my bics away. Now if I am at home I have to go down to the garage, and start the Harley up to get cig lit.
Goin to go find a 12 VDC coffee pot. Can't wait to make the first cup!!
Anyone know where to get hardware to mount a coffee pot on a Dyna???[sm=biker.gif]
please post pics of what and how you did this... I would like to do the same! I do alot of touring and a radar would be nice... went from chi to KC this weekend and got pulled over on route 66 doing 95 in a 55... cop got me to the side of the road pulled next to me and told me to slow it down... then i saw the HD sticker on the bumper! WAY TO LUCKY!
You know, I decided to wire up my Dyna Super Glide for an auxillary 12DC power adaptor soI could use my GPS unit. I went through the effort to make a small two lead connector that I could put on the battery terminals. I took the seat off and removed the battery. Then I put the connector on the terminals and put the battery and seat back on. Then, while I was looking for the best way to run the power wires to the handle bars, I find the exact same kind of connector just under the tank near the horn. The bike already had the power connector!! That will teach me to do something like that without checking if it might already be there. Anyway, now I have two power connectors for whatever I may need them for.
No, but I am working on that idea. The location on the electricalcover protects it internally, and my body will sheild it in the rain.
The inline 15 amp fuse protects the battery, etc. if it shorts out for some unknown reason.
Ok, I was just wondering.
I wonder if you could slip a little rubber boot over the handle on the lighter and have it go all the way up to the electrical cover when not in use.Wouldn't need to be real tight fitting, just enough where it won't fall off. When you want to use the lighter just remove the boot.
No part #s, any $3 lighter will do. Gotta drill a hole, and run some wires. I ran mine directly to the battery an put a 15 amp inline fuse to the positive side. The FXDs have an accessory plug under the seat, but mine is already being use for the heated handgrips.
Here is a picture:
[sm=pimp.gif]..............you must be a smoker..............................LO...........
Yep, but I will also be able to plug my coffee pot in on camping trips, charge my cell phone, etc.
Tried it out today. With the new winsheild I can smoke em up going down the pike at 80 mph and never lose an ash.[8D]
Don't have to stop to light em anymore.
