If you are worried about weather then try a lighter made for a boat.
Mine has a handy little map light on it.
Great idea though, where was the connector thats already powered?

I found the connector just under the tank behind the horn. I felt it while I was feeling around for a good way to run the wires from the 12Volt DC socket. I pulled it down and found that it was exactly like the connector that I had installed on the other side behind the battery.
