Default Problems with 96" motor

Talking to my local Indy guy the other day and he said that around the 14k mark somelower endbearings are starting to fail. He said he got the info from amechanic at a local HD dealer. That's all I know for now. Anybody have any problems?

Dude, I'm not trying to start any rumors. I'm just trying to find out whether to trade or not. The guy I talked to, is a source I trust. But think what you want, WHATEVER!

Only issues I've been hearing about the last few years is the inner primary bearing taking a dump and that's a warranty thing so no worries there. Never had anyone around here mention anything low end going bad aside from normal wear and tear.

i have a 2007 fxd with 12500 miles..i had a transmission seal go out...my guess is that it is because the belt was too tight..had the dealer adjust the belt at 10000 and he did 3/8 while on the stand...when the belt got hot it was as tight as a banjo string...after the new seal i had him adjust on the loose side and i think it will be ok..i have asked a couple wrenches if the belt tightens when hot and they say no...i have the only one that does i guess..i think the 96 is a great motor..
