how about 15bucks?! take the 2 piecemounting bracketapart and remove the backsupport. buy a cheap black plate frame from WallyWorld or autozone. I paid $15 at Wal Mart. install the plate back on the upright mountwith the frame.
now here isthe custom part... bend the bracket back towardsthe fender until it is asclose to it as you want. that is it! end of story!

Here is what you do... take the stock license backing and mount it to a piece of scrap metal cut to 4x7. Bend the backing so that you can mount it to the swingarm where the beltgaurd goes. Free side mount! It looks way better than stock, but not as nice as a chromed out fancy bracket. Oh well, I'm poor. Here is a pic of my free side mount.
