I'm with the crowd here -- which is more ugly:the bars or the tank all stove in from a drop? Besides, it gave me a place to hang the fog lights. Love them fog lights.
Just put the Lindby moustache bars on mine. The low profile goes well with the low rider. Paid for themselves last week when I dropped it on some gravel on the job site. Minor scratch on the bottom of the bar out of sight. Really comfortable to ride with, have foot rests on top and I'm adding highway pegs to the sides of the bars along with a set of chaps made by Chilhowee.
Here's the bike with the bars parked on said f*****g gravel. http://i210.photobucket.com/albums/b...n/SANY0041.jpg
Buy them! Here is my story. One of the few times I was riding without a helmet - in Talihina, OK with three riders I just met. A couple of beers had been consumed and we decided to ride the ridge before sundown. I had on a bandanna and it flew off myhead!
So being Mr. Cool I go back (it's a blind curve) and turn the forks full lock at all of about 1 MPH to lean down & pick it up without stopping. DINK, right over.Damn that Budweiser. Now I am on a blind curve with 3 guys looking back at me and there is no way I am going to be a puss and not pick it up myself. I got it up but the first thing I did when I returned was buy crash bars -so much easier to pick up and you don't talk in high pitches!
And as others have said, great for highway pegs, lights, helmet locks, etc. I even saw one get bent by a German Sheppard that ran out in front of a guy. No telling without it but at least he didn't go down.
I would buy them, but I've been dropping my bike fairly regular lately, and gotten pretty good at it, too.
If I put the engine guard on it would just get scratched up and that would be another scratched up piece of chrome
