I bought a new Sundowner seat ([/b]HD [/b]Part number 51540-06)for my 2007 FXDC and used it for about 50 miles. I did not like how it sat me forward 2†as I am 6’4! Anyone out there have a Tallboy willing to trade for my Sundowner?
If not, I am willing to sell the Sundowner just LMK!
PM me if interested!
Thanks,
Eric
P.S. The Sundowner seat is pictured in my sig pic below.

I had my HD Solo Sundowner modified to fit me and my bike.
Mean City Cycles cut it down and added memory foam.
I’m very happy with the fit and comfort level.
I also had my stock seat done with the same great results.
Salty, I was in your shoes a few weeks ago and posted this very same thing here. Amazingly, I found someone willing to trade the same day or day after - we each just paid the shipping to send to each other. I'm also 6'4" and felt the same way on the Sundowner. Very comfortable seat but I felt like it was pushing me forward. "tbone" and I traded and he seems very happy with the Sundowner. I threw the Tallboy on and rode 5 hours to Myrtle Beach and was very happy as well. The Tallboy advertises to move you back 1.75" and up 2". In my opinion, these 2 numbers cancel each other out. I don't really feel like I'm back any further than stock but am not any further forward either. Good luck - sounds like maybe you have a taker. You'll be happy with the trade.
Well since I could not find a trade, I sold the seat to a board member already!
Thanks for the info 2007FXDC! I thought that might be the case with the Tallboy! I'm getting used to the stock seat now. I can ride for 150 miles straight now with out getting biker butt! No more new seats for me until I try them out first. Maybe I will try a mustang in the future due to the factory take back program of 30 days if you don't like the seat. Thanks again for the info!
Let's see some pics of these FXDCs with the tallboy seat, please.
Miked, the Tallboy looks just like the Sundowner - or at least it would appear to in most any picture except maybe a side-by-side taken at the right angles. And Salty already has one of his in this thread. Other than the difference in fitment for me, the only difference I could find was that the bar and shield logo on the sundowner was on the back of the seat ( the part that faces back) and it's larger and on the back support part on the tallboy.
