Howdy to all from here in Australia, I have recently brought a 07 fxd and have done a few modifications. I have put on 4.5 inch pullback risers on now my speedo is on a weird angle, I read on this forum that this would happen, but with the risers on the comfort level riding far out weighs the odd speedo angle. I have been reading on this forum about different soloutions to fix this but have not seen any that will help me as the speedo housing is incorparated in the handle bar clamp. (hope you know what I mean). So those gauge mount clamps wont work. Surely there must be a way to fix this..Thanks for any ideas..ride safe
Yeah. But it's expensive. Buy a new top clamp to hold the bars. Put the speedo in the one-up chrome mount or get the two-up and add a tach.Mount theinstrument mount to an accutronix riser clamp.
I had the same dilema as you. I got a top clamp from a sportster and
the speedo basket from the same. Then I had a local machine shop
make a bracket to pull it all together. A word of caution, be careful
of the angle that you bend this bracket. You can pretty much set the
speedo where you want. Pete
I went with baby apes (same as the Street Bob) and chromed the speedo after trying the pullback risers like you have. I just couldn't live with that speedo sticking up there, and I like the baby apes sans risers better anyway. The chrome speedo kit from the MoCO catalogue (easy and not so expensive) makes it much less of an eyesore, but you'll have to spring for cables to switch to the taller bars.
sorry forgot to say i like the idea of a tacho?? might have to look into costs as the spares are worth heaps here in Australia. Have a look on ebay-usa...as we got not as much choices on parts on ebay here in Australia. Are the tacos a easy fit or do I need some smart to fit em..thanks to everybody for there replies to..
