Did you have to cut the face for the smooth coveras well?
Nope, it came like that. I just took the plastic black trim off the original one and stuck it on the new cover with 3m tape. Click here to see it on HD's site

Yep 3m brand with the red backing paper. Same stuff they use to attach vinyl trim on the sides of cars so it is safe for outdoor use and holds strong. Found some at Pep Boys but I imagine just about all auto parts places would carry it. Not sure if an HD dealer would carry it but then I doubt you would want to pay their $79.99 price for some tape either.
