I can't believe this. I just picked up my new '08 Street Bob on Monday. Rode home that night and worked like a charm. I rode it on Tuesday without any problems. I have a total of 48 miles on it. Wow!!! LOL.
I go to start it last night and when I push the starter button all it does is make a click noise around the seat. I'm thinking it's the ignition relay making this noise. I have gone through all of the troubleshooting and cannot seem to find the problem. Let me get the basics of what I've done out of the way. Tried starting it in neutral. Tried starting it in gear with clutch lever pulled in. Checked my battery cables and they were tight. I can hear the fuel pump whirring so I know it's not that. Checked all of the fuses and they were all fine. I'm thinking it has something to do with either a bad relay or starter. I'm calling the dealership this morning and I'll let you know what happens.
I never thought one of my first postst would be something like this, but I guess **** happens.
Needless to say, I'm a little upset. I know it's covered under warranty but come on, not even 50 miles on the thing yet!!
Hi Moose98
Neighbor here.....just east of Lebanon. Good luck with the ride, Im sure its something simple but still....less than 50 miles Id be pissed too, lol.
Let us know what happens it might help someone else in the future.
Congrats on the new ride!!
Looks like the dealer is going to make it right. I called this morning and no questions asked. They said they would come pick the bike up today and get it taken care of. I'll keep posting updates as to what they find.
Had that same thing happen on my '03 Wide Glide. I got it used from a dealer about 6 months ago, and didn't get their $2,000 warranty, but I threw such a fit that they fixed it for free..they said it was a fuel line problem, ended up replacing the tank, fuel lines, carb...

Same thing?...Fuel line problem?....I am no factory trained tech but I dont see a connection between a fuel line problem and the starter not working....:>

I wasn't diagnosing his problem...I had the same problem with the bike not starting, and that's what the shop did to repair it. His may be something completely different, I'm not a tech either, I was just letting him know about my experience...
