First post, so easy on me. Anyonein theLong Island area? Committed to buying a new Fat Bob. Went to Lighthouse Harley in Huntington and was quoted $19,200 out the door (only option was alarm). Little disappointed and left because I am trying to work a 2 bike deal, a FBob and Electra Glide Ultra Classic for a buddy of mine...thinking we could save a little for the "bulk purchase" transaction. Salesperson told me they are selling the Fat Bob's at 2k over MSRP no if, ands, or buts. I walked away before he quoted the price on the Electra Glide but I'm pretty sure I heard $23,600. Get this...$43k in purchases and he promises free tires for the life of the bike! No gift card, a complete rip on the Bob but I get free tires whenI need them!
I left because I was sure this price was just way out of bounds! Anyone here buy a Fat Bob in my area? I know the area is pricey but lets be reasonable.
Anyone? If so, please let me know where you got it and approximate price so I can kinda guage the market.
Thanks...will be a frequent poster once I can getthe bike at a decent price.
I don't know what Fat Bob's are going for, but I do know that I have heard many people talking about how they went in thinking if they bought two, three or even four bikes at a time, they would get some sort of deal,... but none did.
Even with the sales slump I think they still move enough that there is no group discount... If they need to move, they will drop the price. If that dealership is selling over MSRP probably means business is good, good business (unfortunately) means a seller's market, which is bad news for you. I would call around. Most places will not quote you anything below MSRP on the phone, but at least you will know if they are asking over...
Good luck
2 bikes is hardly a bulk purchase. Was the out the door price inclusive of all taxes and registration? Tell him to forget the tires and sell the bike for MSRP. Let your buddy make his own deal, no salesman wants to hear you're shopping for your friend.
Fat Boy (black pearl with forward controls) for $15,887...you could fly out and drive it back for what the other dealer wanted. Please not that local metro dealers in Portland do not offer at these prices. Bottom line, get outon the internet and find the dealer close (closer) to you that will give you a deal.

Nice to see another Oregonian! I've been to the Coos Bay dealer, they do have good deals! I agree 19k is too much to pay.
Up this way in NH, dealers are selling at MSRP and some sweeten the deal by eating the set-up and freight charges or free service for the first 2 years. I'd shop around and not be afraid to call dealers within a couple of hundred miles - it's getting colder in the northeast and bike sales will dip after the first onslaught of new model interest. Best deals around here happen in December/January where it's not unheard of to get $1000-$1500 off MSRP depending on model and stock on hand. Got my St Bob last jan for $1500 off and no frieght or set-up charges. Market right now is flooded with 105th Anniv models, so I likely good deals on those will be within a month or two, that is, if you care for the duracell paint scheme - since most don't, they're just sitting collecting dust in the showrooms up this way.
Head south into Jersey and your sure to pick up one at msrp. I bought my FXD at 500 under msrp last winter andif I knew then what I know now, I could have done much better on it.Try http://www.mills-hd.com/. It's a ride down the Jersey Turnpike but you sure to save a ton of dough. 19k is a buttload of cash to spend.
