10K service
My bike is about due for the 10K service. Normally I take the bike to the dealer to get stuff like that done, I'm not that good of a wrench, however I DID manage to change the oil and filter without having to call the EPA for an oil spill... Anyway, we've had a few unexpected expenses come up and looks like I have to do it myself. I got the manual and a few tools and stuff, just wondering which items are critical (as opposed to just being very important), and how difficult is it for someone not very mechanically inclined to do without really f*cking up the bike? Thanks. Oh, and if anyone wants to volunteer to help, I have a keg of Sam Adams in the kegerator[8D]
here is what the manual calls for in the 10k.
* is what I consider critical
*Engine Oil and Filter (replace)
*Air Cleaner (replace or Clean)
*Tires (check pressure, inspect tread)
*Transmission lubricant (replace)
*Chaincase lubricant (replace)
*Clutch (check adjustment)
Rear Belt and sprockets (check)
Control Cables (lubricate)
Jiffy Stand (inspect and lube)
Fuel lines (inspect)
*Break Fluid (check level and condition)
*Break pads (check and replace if worn)
*Spark Plugs (replace)
Electrical operation (check)
Steering head bearings (adjust)
Fastners (check tight)
*Engine mounts and stabilizer (check)
