Well, thanks to Trotter, I have my new Peacemaker exhaust system installed and working! It sounds real good.Quiet when I need it to be and nice and loud the rest of the time. The installation went real good. Just a minor problem with the instructions for the wiring. It called for a red/gray wire to be pulled from the wiring harness to connect to the hot wire for the exhaust system. Unless Trotter and I are both color blind, there is no red/gray wire in the harness. After a phone call to National Cycle we used the red/white wire for the power to the actuator. It works and that's what's important. Thanks Trotter!!!! I rode around until I was nearly frozen listening to the great sound from those pipes.
I've been thinking about getting PeaceMakers for a while now. My current pipes (Rush slip-ons w/2" baffles) are too quiet for the highway and too loud when I'm coming home late at night. The Peacemaker design seems like a great solution. But I've been waiting to read more reviews/feedback before deciding whether to buy a set. Especially for later model Dyna's with EFI.
Does anyone know how well the PeaceMakers work with a SERT? Is there a signal that let's the SERT know to richen up the mixture when running open instead of through the baffles? Do they need a dual Dyno tune - one for the more restrictive "quiet" mode and another to set up less restrictive "loud" mode. Or do you just tune it for the "loud" mode since you'll be running that way more often?
Sorry if that's too many questions Thanks for posting b5mac and Trotter! Any info you guys can pass along is greatly appreciated.
Trotter, tell Kelly that I didn't mean to not finish it.[&o] I was side tracked by the install. I think we were looking for that red/gray wire and I laid the samich down and forgot about it. It was good though. Maybe I should have gone with the cranberries on it! I do like the sound and I didn't notice any difference in the performance whether the exhaust flapper was closed or open.
I think they are a great concept, we'll probably see more sound dampening solutions from other manufacturers down the road as noise restrictions increase, i.e. end cones with flaps etc.
