Like jackyl said, bikes can be replaced, friends can't. Good to hear he's OK. Sorry to hear the bike is totaled. Sounds like you have plenty of options. Hopefully your friend is a man of his word and we won't see you on The Peoples Court
+1
there are bikes everywhere for sale..... friends are hard to come by. glad yours is OK.
A wrecked '08 with almost no mileage and no mechanical damage should be worth some decent $ if just for the parts alone. If you can get the bike with a salvage title, might be worth a look. The dealer can order a new frame, same VIN, a custom front end and a little more bling, you'll be back on the road with a nicer bike and less $$$ out of pocket, just a thought.
As far as your buddy, glad to hear that he's okay and that he's man enough to make you whole after your deductible, etc. Just remember though, this wreck will go against your insurance policy not his. Don't be surprised when it's time to renew or get the new bike insured to see an increase in your premiums.
I'll take some pictures when I go with the adjustor to take a look at the bike again. He said he would square me atleast to 0 and then see about giving me a down for a new bike as well. My pops wants to buy the parts back and chop up a new bike out of it.
The funny part is I had just ordered a tank lift from Jackyl. When I got home, it was there sitting on the table waiting for me. And yeah, I'm expecting my premiums to go up but I'll worry about that once I don't have to worry anymore about the payments on this bike.
I have let a selected couple ride my bike, and I ride thiers alongside em.. glad bud ain't hurt, shouldn't be mad you let him ride it. you knew the chance.
I don't let anybody ride the bike other than the maintance staff at the dealer and even then I get a pit in my stomach. I had one guy a washer at a dealer couldn't get my sporty into neutral and would always leave it in gear. Its just not a good idea to have friends ride your bike. All bikes are a little diffrent and have their ownlittlequirks we as the owner are use to them and are able to ride them safe. I am glad everyone ones ok bikes can be replaced.

No one rides my beemer unless I say so. The dealer no longer is allowed to test ride the beemer, since they went and layed it down on me! They understand. If they didn't I'd just do the work myself, which actually I started doing since they did that, man was I pist, I had owned it since new (87) and had never been down until about 15 years later when the dealer tech locked the front brake (new front tire) and down she went, right in front of the dealership, or so they say (story I was told did sound a bit fishy, so I don't feel I know the truth, but never went to the cops like I could have, and requested an accident report).
