To each his own... but I agree with BCguy. Why wait to have your bike run the way it should come from the MoCo?

Steve... another thing to consider.... if youadd the stage 1up front, most dealers willinclude the parts in your 2 yearfactory warranty. Do it later, and you only get thestandard warranty on the parts (I believe 90 days).
That's why I did mine at time of purchase.

Noone really answered his question SE intake and remap~$300.00 pipes ~$300-800 depending on what you pick plus labor if you don't install yourself. Only you can decide if it's worth it, but you will notice an improvement.

Wow there's a lot of info here. This certainly is a good forum. There's a lot of knowledge here. Thanks guys.

I like the look of the tommy gun exhaust. It's one of the things I like about the bike. I don't like the look of the standard SE slip ons so I'll have to wait untill there's a few alternatives to choose from. I guess there will be quite a few.

I was thinking about doing the air cleaner first then fitting some slip ons later. Reading some of your advice I'd guess it's best to do everything in one go.

I'll think about it but I'll probably leave it until I've put a few thousand miles on it and do the lot.

I'm running a Yamaha XJR 1300 at the moment which is a model that I don't believe they sell in the USA. It's an aircooled 4 cylinder naked bike with 4 carburettors. I've opened up the inlet rubbers by 28%, modified the airbox to give more flow, fitted a K&N filter and fitted a free flow exhaust with removable baffles. With the baffles removed it's pushing out about 119 hp and 82 lbs torque at 8000 rpm. It's fast but still suprisingly tractable at low speeds. With these simple modifications they'll pull from 20 mph in 5th gear straight up to 145 mph without missing a beat. I've never actually taken the baffles out of course because that would be illegal.

It's suprising what a few simple modifications can do sometimes.

BCguy The way your gonna do it is the Correct way AC, Pipes and the SERT.. Most people dont do the SERT they just go with the Stage 1 down load.Someting Loud, (pipes) and A/C .. The SERT has many maps's that will fit your set up.. The stage 1 flash is a wast of money.... Completly diffrent than the maps you get with theSERT...... There not street Legal... The stage 1 flash is.....So go ahead if that is your direction....The diffrence is the purchas of theSERT... Good Luck Trotter

Ihad the dealer domy 07 Bob before I picked it up. Stage 1 AC, Big Radius pipes and PCIII with the standard download from Dynojet for this configuration. Knew I wouldn't be able to stand the stock sound/power, but that's just me. Ran it this way (it was pretty good) untilabout 2K miles. Was at the Lonestar Rally and had Speed's dyno it and map the PCIII. Ran a lot smoother/stronger and am very happy with the result. I like that I can change stuff in the future and re-map, which you couldn't do with the HD download (you'd have to pay for another one).

Just the way I did it, but I've never regreted it. Enjoy the new scooter!

What ever you do don't let your dealer talk you into putting the SE pipes on your new ride, you will totally regret it and they sound like ****

Ok i am planning to do some work on my 2007 and here is the pricing i have found.

SE stage 1 air kit $ 149.99 pretty much anywere you go and almost any dealer will give you 10% off on that if you are buying the bike make them give you 20% off all parts or more.

Power commander (PCIII)cheapest i have found it was at fuelmoto.com and its $249 bucks but if you can get the dealer to give you 20% off they charge like $340 for the PCIII so get the discount and buy it same place.

Pipes iam going Vance and Hines big radius. Most dealers have quoted me a price of $585 for these i have found a site on line that is offering them for $509.

Now labor is pretty much 1hr for the pipe install 1hr for air and 1hr for the PCIII best total quote i have gotten with 10% off all parts was $1540 for everything above. and that included a dyno run at $65 bucks.

I am still checking prices and nego deals lol as i will not be doing this till march, and since i am mechanically employed and inclide i will probalbly install everything myself and then have the dealer dyno it so i will cut my cost from $1540 to about $900 or $1000

" and that included a dyno run at $65 bucks. "

That sounds like there just giving you as print out of what the Numbers are after Install... No actual tuning.. Kinda useless.. Have them tune it.
