Default What's it for?

That piece of flat stock welded to the rear right side frame rail below the transmission?

Best I can tell it's to protect the tranny. Either that or it's to force you to pay $30 for a set of plastic blocks to help lift your bike level.

Could it be for added frame support for weight there? I don't know - just wanted to make the comment about the block kit so I made chit up.

I went over a speed bump 2 days ago in a parking lot so I know exactly what its for...if not for the plate my tranny would still be in the parking lot along with the fluid.

There's no paint on the bottom of mine as I've scraped it more than a few times. Come to think of it, I better touch that thing up.

skid plate for the tranny/oil pan. OR it splits the air over the rail after it's been disturbed by the jiffy stand hanging down in the airstream and like a vortex generator on the leading edge of aircraft wings it creates a down force to keep the almighty dyna in constant contact with this revolving big blue planet, nah it's just a skid plate.
