Default Dyna Handlebar Swap.....

Dyna Folks,

A good friend of mine has a 07 Dyna LR, he's bought a set of Chubby Drag bars to replace the stock bars.

I'm sure that most of y'all alreadyknow my question.....what have those of you who have swapped out your bars done about the idiot lights?????

I know there was a thread about this awhile back, but I can't seem to find it. I did read it though, but didn't find it all that specific so far as the remedy.

We tore the dash off the bike last night to check and see if there was room between the tac and the speedo to drill and mount five LED's, niether one of thought there was, plus we didn't think cutting the plastic gauge mount under the dash would be a good idea.

Thought we'd found a small light strip in the Custom Chrome catalog that would work by drilling the new bars and mounting the strip on the bars (even though it only had four lights) but that part has been discontinued.

So tell me what can be done....is there a "kit" available to relocate the idiot lights, if there is niether one of us can find it....

I know there are probably thousands of folks who have swapped out the bars on their Dyna's so I'm hoping to get a few suggestions?????

I don't have a LR so I'm lost - which lights are we talking about?

There is a small cluster of lights (High beam, left/right turn signal, oil pressure, and neutral) mounted very loosely to the front side of the risers.

They simply pop off the bars along with a plastic cover that hides the wires. There is no place to re-use the stock lights.....

I just went through over 300 threads...looking for a solution. There were only three that addressed the Low Rider lights.....those fellas improvised by using individual aftermarket LED lights. Mounted either in the "T" of the new bars or in the dash, this is how I have suggested doing it to my friend but, my question here would be how did they secure the lights? Glue? Epoxy?????? Some sort of clip????

I fitted the Chubby Drag Bars to my '06 LR, and, after relocating the indicators using the MoCo kit, was able to use the stock risers and retain the idiot lights in their normal position.

The LEDs I used had a collar that snapped into the 1/4" hole that I drilled. Got 'em from Auto Zone. just a dab of superglue underneath to secure the LED to the collar.

Which MoCo kit is that?

I'd be interested in checking it out.

Thanks,

Hi.
I changed my stock bars (07 FXDL) to buckhorns, and I just tucked the idiot lights under the dash.
I figure all I need is an oil psi gauge. Everything else on that light bar means nothing, really. Be safe.

Sammi,
Relocation kit P/N 68226-03. If your fitting these with drag bars justbe careful to cover the tank during installation and make sure that the indicators are adjustedso that they don't contact the tank when on full lock e.g operating the steering lock. I have about 3/16" clearance between the tank and left indicator, which is fine.
