A friend of mine just moved his family and his 03 Road King from coast to coast last year.
He had HD crate and ship it from his local dealer to his "new" local dealer at his destination. I think he paid $400 for it which included insurance, and he got additional coverage as a HOG member.
It made it safe and sound to portland, OR from New Hamsphire. The Portland dealer uncrated it at the dealership, checked all parameters, changed fluids, washed and cleaned the bike, then road tested it.
He picked it up and did a full visual inspection with the dealer. Bike was perfect. Best $$ he said he ever spent.
call your local dealer and give them the first crack at it.
I will check on that first thing Fly. I am out to sea now butthat sounds like a great option.
Stell, I wish I was going somewhere other people were. I will be going to Fallon Nv. I havebeen looking for groups out there but so farI have found nothing.
Damn Ron I hate to lose you as a riding buddy already. [&:]Ahh well next time we meet up you've got to tell me what happened.
How long are you out at sea for? We are riding this Saturday, not sure where but the temps are supposed to be in the low 60s so who cares where we end up as long as we ride? [8D]
your car would tow that no problem!!! i had a 4cyl 93 jeep wrangler that towed a trailer of 3 HD from KC to chicago.... take it slow and get the trailer and toss your bike on it... it will tow no problem you will only be looking at like a 1000 lbs not bad at all
easy. you pay for my roundtrip airfare to where you are and i ride your bike out to fallon fro your location. i'll pay for the bikes gas and you pay for my beer. then i'll just get on someone elses bike and ride back to your present location and catch my return flight. btw i prefer bud light so it won't be that expensive for you.
DeJavu, Don't know who I pissed of but I will be closer to Sturgis! Now I have to sell my house and my car to afford to go! HA!
Pig, I will be in town friday but we pull back out on Saturday morning! Awesome huh? I may be able to make it to the one on the 15th. Don't know yet! I don't leave untill June/July so we will talk soon.
JRK, I keep playing with the thought of it but I am still iffy... Don't know what to do!
Fj, let me think about it... oh wait, Nope! Haha, thanks for the humor, I need it!
I wanted my nephew's old bike, so I had to have it imported from Canada. I went to the HD website http://www.harley-davidson.com/wcm/C...bmLocale=en_USand was able to find a broker to help with the import and Allied did the shipping. The whole ordeal from Calgary, AB to Richmond, VA (2800 miles plus import) came to $700. My brother-in-law didn't have to do anything but empty the gas tank. They put it on a crate and it arrived fine less than 3 weeks later, even being held up at the border.
You can call 888-haulbikes (from the website) and they'll make it pretty painless. It also included insurance for way more than the value of the bike.
