Black apes looking good, Jay. Very clean without the wiring showing. I just replaced the chromewith black bars but took the easy way, no internal wires. Now,I'm re-thinking it. That would make a good project to keep my sanity. Your bars pre-drilled?

Thanks for all the compliments guys. Although I do my mod my bike in a manner that *I* think makes it look cool and different, It's really nice to know that others appreciate the work I put in.
I have gotten so many great ideas from surfing this board that, to be quite honest, I would not have come up with on my own. Other ideas came to me after seeing other mods and thinking how I could go in a different direction without hacking it up.

I'll answer a few of the questions in the later part of the thread..........

VenturaChop: I bought the whole deal as a set from Hill Country Custom Cycles. No idea who makes the bars, but one of the few places I found bars like this at an affordable cost.

Jackyl: Actually, the speedo is one of the things I like about my 'Glide. Yeah, to some it's not pleasing to the eye, but I prefer to see what's gonna on in my face rather than keeping glancing down. And that is part ofanother project I will be completing this winter. Adding a tach to the bars, already have a tach and bracket from and 04 that I got off Ebay for dirt cheap. Just gotta find a harness to tie it all in. Anyone????????????

hk_shooter Doing the wires internal is the only way to go. I cheated myself at my last bar change, but those bars were not pre-drilled and I wasn't going to chance doing it myself. Internal wiring not nearly as hard as people make it out to be. Only took me a few tries to get the wires through the bars, using the string and nut method. Toughest part was getting the connectors through one by one without breaking any of them off. I discovered if you don't have any dielectric grease around, ky-jelly works great for "lubing up" the wires to help them slip through the bends easier. The Novello kit to extend the wires is really easy to use also, no splicing and dicing involved.

Muddpuddle Yeah we get ride time, but to be honest, it sucks once it gets below50egrees around here. I guess I'm just not that hardcore.

I agree with Jay. I like the speedo mounted where it is. Whenever I've thought about moving it, I always remember how annoying it's been when I've ridden otherH-D's that have dash mounted speedo's. I must admit I like the fuel filler cap in the center of the tank as well. To each his own I suppose ....

Hey Jay. I think you'll like it even more when you add the tach.

I guess it's you and me and pstan.

Both items are more functional, like you put it,
in your face.

And I like the look just fine as bar mounted equipment.
