Jackyl: Actually, the speedo is one of the things I like about my 'Glide. Yeah, to some it's not pleasing to the eye, but I prefer to see what's gonna on in my face rather than keeping glancing down. And that is part ofanother project I will be completing this winter. Adding a tach to the bars, already have a tach and bracket from and 04 that I got off Ebay for dirt cheap. Just gotta find a harness to tie it all in. Anyone????????????
I agree with Jay. I like the speedo mounted where it is. Whenever I've thought about moving it, I always remember how annoying it's been when I've ridden otherH-D's that have dash mounted speedo's. I must admit I like the fuel filler cap in the center of the tank as well. To each his own I suppose ....

PsTaN
I am with you, too.
It always irritates me when folks bad mouth the "ugly speedo" on the SuperGlide. It, the center fill fuel tank, and the rear fenderwere
major contributors to my decision to purchase the FXD. Too much chrome on FXDC for me.
I have always planned on a tach, and seem to want to rationalize the need away. I look at the setup like Mudpuddle has everytime I am at the dealership.
Nice to see it installed on Muds bike, now I like it even more.
I'd go buy it next week, but the landlord wants the rent
Has anyone looked into the possibility of using the VROD setup??

Funny how you mentioned the center fuel cap Doug, that is another thing I prefer about my bike.

Great job Jay! I think you're right-on about the speedo and tach. It'll look really good on there with your set up.

Got out for a few miles today to fill the tank for winter and feel out the bars. Gotta say that my riding posture is much better now and it took a few minutes to get used to my hands being more elevated.

Overall, felt really good and I got a few looks out on the road. Not sure if it was because it was 35 degrees out or that people were digging the bike.

Snapped a couple more pics outside before it started to rain and I put it back in the garage. Time to start tearing it apart again for the next project. It felt good to ride, even if it was only for a a few miles.

Nice look Jay - thanks for posting the pics, been thinking and debating and thinking about black bars, maybe a tad taller for the bobstah, but "think" I might prefer a little narrower look to match up with the forks - decisions, decisions ....

And agree with you about the speedo location, that's why I'm planning on the bar location for my tach (once I have that I don't need to look at the console speedo - LOL!).

Thanks Chipstah. To be quite honest, the look of the wider bars doesen't bother me as much as I thought it would. And I do prefer the "spread" it gives my arms when I'm riding. I chose the height I did, because I felt pretty comfortable with my arms straight out and just above my shoulders versus my hands being elevated over my shoulders a few more inches. Bigger bars have great curb appeal, but I don't think in the long run I would have been happy with them on long trips.

Oh, and the other plus side I discovered about them was the fact that my mirrors are now full functional instead of half my arm being in the mirror.

Jay that does look sharp!!! I would like to hear back from you after riding a few hours. I am trying to come up with an idea to decrease my vibration just a little at the grips.
