What does this mean? DOHC
ORIGINAL: icecaps
Separate things.
DOHC is the configuration of the Valvetrain.
A TC88 uses OHV (Overhead Valve) with pushrods.
The fuel management system is either carburetor or fuel injection.

Therefore the TC88 engine does not use Dual OverHead Camshafts???
Correct?

Harley Davidson Twin Cams use 2 cam shafts that set in the lower end of the engine. The cams are NOT overhead. The Cams reside in a Cam plate and is surrounded by / drives a set of gears or a roller chain. Noting that the cams do what all cams do and thatsmake the intake and exhaust valves open and close anddetermine theduration that they stay open and close...
There is no such thing as a DOHC t.c. 88 Heritage.

So I'd say your friend is full of it... HD to my knowledge also dosent use that designator "DOHC" inany of its lexiconas it pertains to its fuel management systems.
There are Dual carbs... or singles.. or there is EFI... thats it.

DOHC= translates to foreign engines and slowly moved into the automotive industry. Twin Cams cams are down by your right foot behind the cam chest cover. If I am correct all overhead cams on any engine are driven by a chain or belt off the crankshaft. There areno such pieces in the HD twin cam engine. Just my 2 cents worth.
I emailed those dumbasses a while back about that, guess they never looked into it. Yes, it is true, the Twin Cam 88 does not have Dual Overhead Cams. Twin cams and pushrods. No matter how your buddy or Bikez looks at it, the TC88 is not a DOHC motor.

Actually, the cams are chain driven.
