Default Scored a SERT!

A brief glance at eBay this morning yielded a good price on the SERT (32107-01G) for $320 shipped. So, I snagged it! It's sealed and new in the box. That's a pretty good price, no?

I had been running a DFO for a while now, but, removed it last weekend while troubleshooting some recent surging/missing/idling issues. The bike's in the shop right now sitting undiagnosed at the moment (they wouldn't test ride it in the rain). But I told myself that, if I ever had to remove it, I would take the plunge for the SERT since my wife recently purchased a laptop - therefore giving me the ability to connect to the bike in the garage. So, I have a DFO (1340ST) if anybody wants to make an offer. PM me, if interested.

Are the canned maps available for my setup (SEIIs, SE A/C and BCT Baffles) any different than, let's say, the race download HD tries to sell? A Dyno will have to wait for a while. Do any of you have any maps dialed in for this type of setup?

Your SERT part number indicates it's an older model being the "L" is the latest. The good news is that the physical module is the same, the software is v4.6.2. For 08 bikes, I've been told that you need to use v4.7.7. If you have an 08 bike, you can get the v4.7.7 software for about $15 online.

I'm an 06 so I'm golden. I think I could've gone all the way back to "E", if I wanted to. The dealer just called and told me my bike's done. They ended up putting in the 25 degree injectors and reflashing it - all under warranty. I was surprised since they could've made a case against warranty work being that mine ended in October. We'll see tomorrow when I pick it up if the injectors make a difference. That being said...

I'm assuming I can do better with a canned SERT map than any new HD Download they may have put in there, right?

Do you recommend the dealer do the initial install of the software on the bike or is this something that can easily be done at home?

The dealer Charges 45.00 to Install or 1/2 hour at there Labor rate... For Warranty Issues I'd pay the 1/2 hour so they have a record of the Install done by H.D. Certified Tech... Cheap Insurance..

That might be something to keep in mind, Trotter. I'm going to walk with this week's injector/reflash upgrade with no money out of my pocket. I think this is mainly due to the fact that - as far as they knew - the old download I paid for was my sole source of fueling (and I was running SE parts otherwise). They had no idea I had a DFO on it 12 hours prior. I bet they wouldn't have given warranty work - especially after my 2-year had expired - a consideration had I pulled it in there with a DFO on it.

Maybe spending $50, like you said, is some cheap insurance in case something else goes wrong.

Well, the new injectors/flash definitely cured the problem, however, the plugs are bone white. Need that SERT! :-) It was covered under warranty, which was nice, however, as usual with dealers, there are the requisite screw-ups. My left front turn signal was loose (why??) and my front spark plug wasn't even hand tightened when I got home. How the hell do you let something like that happen???

I had the same problem and had the injectors changed on my 06. solved everything. I want to get a sert too but mostly because next winter, saving now, I want to do a bigbore kit. sounds like you got a good deal.

Hey Whiff, good luck with the new SERT, i just ordered one also...

That sucks that the dealerdidn't even hand tighten the plug.. I thinkwarranty covers installing the plug but if you need it tightened down they would of had to charge you an hours labor time
