Default Help......03' FXDL Wiring Question...???

I was given a set of Kuryakyn Silver Bullet halogens [part #2321] for Christmas that triple tree mount. Instructions say to attach the single powerlead for each lightto the "blue" wire for running lights, which is my intended use. I have never installed any electrical accessories on my LowRider so that area is not my expertise and I am left with a few questions....particularly since I don't see a blue wire...at least one leading to the headlight...........those three are black, yellow and white.

Am I thinking right in splicing into the headlight power lead or will there be an issue with the fact that the headlight is of course, high and low beam...seems like this would affect the use of the halogens. Do I get my power wire from under the tank? The wires for the lights are probably no more than 24 inches long.

If anyone has used this kit or these lights in a front run only mannerbefore or if anyone has any suggestions that would help, I'd really appreciate it.

Thanks...

May I make a suggestion, take off the seat, disconnect the the large plug going to the rear lighting harness, turn on the ignition, with a simple test light there should be a blue wire in the plug. That is the tail lightrunning light, and a power source, splice into the wire with grease filled connectors and some heat shrink tubing. run the hot wires to a switch, halogen lites to the switch and the ground for the lite & switch to the battery post or to a stud on the frame in the center near the battery. Remove the rear bolts on the fuel tank and put a peice of wood under the tank, that will help out running wires up to the steering and on to the handlebars. Just an idea. Good luck have fun and ride safe. Oh don't rush your self, think it thru first.

2BKFXDL.....
This ought to help you out regarding the search for the blue wire(s).
You can double click on the image to increase the size.
The black, yellow and white are the headlight wires, as you said, and as you will see on the diagram.
The blue wires you want are running to the turn signals. This is only on the domestic models, but that of course is what you have unless you may live somewhere other than the US.
These wires power on when the key is on and provide your current 'running lights'. You will want to make your tie-in at the plug noted as 31A on the diagram. This is where it connects to the main wiring harness. There will be 6 wires on this connection.....black(2), violet, blue(2), and a brown wire.
You may want to know where to find this connection on your bike:
It is located on the frame backbone (under the tank).
If there is any other question just let me know..................pg

edit note: Connection #3 & #4 is what you want to tie into. 'BE' means blue.
