Question Fat Boy mini lights on upper fork cover?

Re-post... Posted in electrical but no luck at all. Need advice. Have an 06 Fat Boy that I want to add mini lights using the screws of the upper fork covers for a clean look. The mini's have a Red, Green and Black wire each. No instructions and the manufacturer would not go into detail on which wiring in the bike the mini's tie into. All they said was that the Red and Green are positive and the Black is negative. I have a manual with the wiring diagram. It shows every wire and color but not which color does what. Would like the mini's to stay on when the power is on and shut off when the bike is off like the headlight. Some people tell me to hook up the wires to a separate switch to put them on and off and it is a much easier hook up. Anyone ever hook up lights on their forks themselves with or without the switch? Any advice and help would be appreciated..Sorry for the long post...

Try attaching the power wires (I'd twist them together) to the orange and white wire under the left side of the tank. there is a plug on the orange and white wire that is made for the Harley passing lamps. You can use a quick splice or get the other side of the plug from Harley and plug them in. Ground the black wire.

Thank you Hog Pro for posting. It really made sense and cannot wait to try it. Are you the same Hog Pro guys that sell chrome wheels and wheel packages? If so, that is my favorite site for looking at wheels in which I want to do in the near future. Thank you again...

i'll give it a stab to help clarify what each wire is. i don't know if your working with a single bulb-dual filament light, two bulb lamp or leds, but here goes.. lol

obviously the grd is black. the other two wires are for the seperate bulb filaments or i should say dim/run side, the other is for the bright/turn side of the lamp. to figure out which one is which, go to your car battery and connect the black to grd. then connect either the red or green wire by itself one at a time to the positive side of the battery. each wire will power a seperate circuit in the bulb, one dim, one bright. right it down which is which. then under the fuel tank look for the black connector with 5 or 6 wires in it. (you'll have to hook you ign switch back temporarily). i think the connector is on the right side of the frame. to make sure, while the ign is on, disconnect the connector and see if the frt lights go out. using a test light with the ign turned to the on position ck to see which wires are hot with just the ign on. once you find a hot wire turn the ign off then on to confirm that you have the correct wire/wires. this is the wire you would hook the dim wire to that you tested on the car battery. next turn the ign back on and turn on your right turn signal and ck each wire in the connector to see which one is blinking. this is the wire you want to hook the bright wire to on your right side mini lamp. then do the same for the left side so you can hook the the left side mini lamp wiring correctly.

hope this helps you or any others trying to figure out which wire is which on a unmarked lamp assy.

Pull up the auxillary lights for your model on the HD page then download the PDF instructions. It'll show you where the connector is under the tank and the wiring. You will have to slide the tank back to get to it and slide the controls back on the handlebars in order to get the wiring out. It should be three wires to each light which can be iidentified by using a 12v source with the black as ground, of the other two brightest would be the turn signal with the dimmer the running lights. Shouldnt need to ring them out if you just match the wiring, one side should have a brown on all three colors. Just remember when pullin the wires out which side went where.

Used a relay and a switch when I added passing lamps. Post pics of your lamps for us when you are finished.
