If anybody remembers, I had posted about jammin my brakes on a tailgaiter. Any time I brake, as with all of us Im sure, I pull the clutch. So, today I take the scoot out of the shed. (only 45 degs here and kinda damp. Roads are a bit wet) Lotsa mud between me and the asphalt. Bikes slippin and sliden. So,when I make it to thepavement, Itake it into second, andslam on the rear brakes, (to get all the mud and sh*toffa my rear tire, and make damn sure I can stop) Lo and behold, she jumps into first. Just to make sure its not a reflex, ( as some had suggested before)I do it again. Sure enough, she does. Hows that FU*KIN' POSSIBLE?????? Is there some kinda enertial down shift capability? Is it the moco's doing? Or is it the harley god looking after me? Or, better yet..........haveI just taken way to much acid in my youth? (and paying for it now)
A little bit of both, I think. But just to be on the safe side, have Harley or somebody check out small springs for the shifter/drum assembly. Sounds like your missing the use of one. Good Luck.

HMMMM
Hmmm,
#1 Not that I know of(but I'm no expert)
#2 Don't think so (see above)
#3 Possibly( you have a bell?)
#4 Most likely (boy, am I in trouble)turn on, tune in, and tune out, right?
My old Triumph has auto downshifted a bit through the years. After taking it apart, there seems to be no reason for it, it just happens. Sounds like BS right. I just got use to it. It's very rare, but it can happen. I just keep my hand hoverin' over the clutch. Good luck!
Mine does it sometimes too... it will "fall" for lack of a better term into a lower gear from a higher gear.. The old timers used to call this shifting by ear... where in at certain engine speeds / rpms one could shift gears without using the clutch because everything is "aligned" ata certainspeed / rpm to allow a shift. I will be riding along at a certain road speeds.. (usually at slower speeds) and it will downshift on its own.But in my case it has been fairly rare.
If its a continuous problem though and happening alot, I would take it to the shop.Could be a host of things responsible.
If your letting off or braking real hard and it's popping into neutral thats one thing (and that's not right) ,,, but if it's actually going into a lower gear than it the Drugs ..
