Default Quick Question.....

I just got my new shocks (progressive 412 11" black). I ordered the standard duty but received the heavy duty. I'm 195 lbs. and only ride solo. Should I send them back and get the standard or say fu(k it and keep the heavy duty.

Thanks for your opinions.

I don't know, man, they are gonna be awful stiff. I weigh two fourty and on the lightest setting they are pretty stiff, although they have softened up a bit after about twenty thousand miles. My thinking is you will be happier if you send them back unless you're adept at dodging potholes or are used to riding a rigid.

Good Luck

I am exactly the same weight (195) and only ride solo, and the same thing happened to me only I had ordered the standard duty on purpose, and decided when they arrived I really wanted the HD ones. Called supplier up and it cost me a $24 restocking fee plus shipping. So, if you decide you want the standard duty, it may cost you unless you can get them to admit they sent the wrong ones.

Now my advice/experience regarding the heavy duties - I LOVE THEM! They definitely are firmer and you WILL feel EVERY road irregularity (and avoid the deep holes or you might find yourself airborne and the bike still on the road!), but man, does it ever hug the road. Very responsive and I feel MUCH more in control of the bike in the corners and braking (no more dive). Night and day difference from the moco stockers. Oh, and I also put Progressive springs (standard duty) in the front and lowered the front to keep the bike level. And that probably added to the improvement as well. On the interstate or any smooth pavement straight line cruisng I doubt you'd notice much of a difference between HD and Standard Duty.

The heavy duties aren't for everyone, especially those wanting a super comfy/cushy ride, but if you prize good handling and superior cornering ability and control in the twisties, KEEP them! I like to compare the handling to driving a Porsche vs. a Mercedes - both good, but one is GREAT. Just put them on the lowest (least firm) setting and leave 'em there until going two up.

Good Luck!
Chip

I think I'll give them a try. I'm not to worried about my bike being too comfy.I like the idea of her staying nice and stiff in the cornors. Beside's I'll probably only get fatter.

That's the spirit Rida!!! I'm 6'2, 260 and ride the moco. Haven't ridden that much since getting the new scoot but I'm thinking the heavy duty is the way to go. I'll wait until my trip from NY to FL and back in May. If there are any other Big Boys out there, give us a little feed back on the moco vs. progressives with 2up weightx 1 Rider, LOL!

I went ahead and kept the HD's. I like um. They slammed the rear end and feel great. I do have to watch for the pot holes though. I hit one big one and it felt like someone smacked my but hole with a sledge hammer. Ooohhh buddy thems stiff, But hadle great and look even better.
