Default Headlight Alignment - In Close

The manual provides the alignment level for front headlights, but it specs 25 feet. I don't have that in my basement. Will a mark at the height specified work at 10 feet?

What have y'all done for alignment after replacing your stock headlightin the absnece of a flat, 25 foot distance?

Can't remember if it was Trotter or Mud that told me to align it at 12' with center of low beam at 3' from that distance. That's how I aligned mine but, frankly, I haven't been out at night yet to test it out.

As you probably read the center of the beam should be around 35" at 25'. I would guess if your at 10' theheight would need to be higher then 35" but probably only by a inch or two. If mud offered you advice I would go with that as he is the man with the answers. Sorry if I did'nt help you much but will glaldly check something on mine if you need it measured. Mojo

navy, align it when you get it out of the basement.

Leave it slightly loose, ride it, check it, move up or down as appropriate.

When you get it where you like it, go ahead and torque it down.

Measure the height of your headlight and figure it out, the height of your mark is proportional to the distance to the mark.
My manual says the mark should be 35" from the floor at 25'. Since the center of my headlight is 37" off the floor, the mark is 2" lowerthan the headlight. At 10', the mark would be (10'/25') * 2" = 0.8" lower than the headlight, or 36.2" from the floor.
At 12.5', the mark would be half the difference or 1" lower than the headlight...36". (12.5/25) * 2 = 1".
