Default Hq 95

Clark asked about which pistons and cams I used
when I built my 95" HeadQuarters motor.

It's a monster with DougMagic.

Cams are the HQ-TC-600.
Pistons are CP 11:1.
High Velocity porting of stock heads.
etc

Idling it does sound like a hopped up small block Chevrolet.

Hitting second gear hard it does one of two things -
spin the tire so hard the rear wheel tries to pass me on the left,
or, if it does get a grab, it feels like both wheels come off the ground.
Usually it's the first scenario, and I shift to third as soon as the shift light comes on.

With the rev limiter set at 6500,
this monster is still pulling hard when it does hit 6500,
in every gear.

First three gears, it hits the limiter before you even know it.
That's why I set the shift light at 6000.

Default RE: HQ 95" question

Hey Mud, what is the part # on your CP piston box?

they offer 3 pistons based on a 85 CC head. a 9.5,10.1, and 10.5.

the dome volumes are 4cc, 9cc, and 12cc. respectively.

My heads are at 82 CCs now, and I have the 9.5 piston to get 10.1.

Your cams are chain drive?

Hey Mud.
Sounds a very fun engine. I am still waiting to do mine, all my funds have been going to the chopper and the new shop. I hope get it done before spring.
Are you having any issues with detonation with the high compression.

Clay, nice to hear from you. Long time.

Happpppy New Year to ya up thar in VanCouverLand.

Let us hear some more about the chopper.
You've been keepin it secret for a year or so now.

Detonation?? Absolutely zero, as datalogged with SERT.
93 octane here in the Great State of Texas.

Doug puts together the "package"
as to your riding style, available fuel,
type (weight) of your machine, etc.

Different answers to his questions
yield different combinations of pistons/cams/etc.

And a starterSERT map is also provided by Kevin.

Doug is a north of the border neighbor of yours,
but, over the Great Lakes.

Mud,

Looks like you have a real nice setup there. The work from the pictures is top notch. Could you give me a ball park cost for what you have into this setup and did you assemble it yourself or did the HQ guys do it for you?

dyna,
The HQ componentsfor top end and cams,
including head gasket, but less the other gaskets - 2200

other gaskets HD - 50-60

I also used the Barnett extra disc extra plate package
with HDScreaming Eagle spring - around 200

You will also want a good exhaust - 5-700

The cheap part was my own labor forassembly 8-10 hours @ $0

Cool, thanks for the info Mud, I bet that is a fun scoot to be rippin arround on now. Mine is starting to feel slow to me, its time.
I had the evo build on hold for awhile i wasnt sure which way i wanted to go, i ended up getting it totally rebuilt. Its going back together right now, ive had the entire engine polished and the cylinders are powder coated black along with the spacer in the rocker boxes.
I have been renovating my shop so ive had no place to work so all projects were pilled into the corner of my basement. But its done now and im back at it, ive got some frame work to do. I will be getting the engine back in a couple of weeks so it should come together pretty quick now.
I thought HQ moved to the states, you meen theres actually a good performance company this side of the border
Anyways good talking wiht ya, i havnt been arround here much but have been popping in alot more lately.
More later
