man to be honest it was faily easy to build! took about 2 weekends... that is the bike i had on the lift when it fell off and ruined my new paint... that is why i always say!!! strap it up!

1/4 in steel... held up just fine... i actually found it in a field... i would prob use 1/2 if i did it again... never really thought about it till just now... to be honest... for your ladies bike... find some suzuki savage shocks they are nice and real low... that is what i used on my girls bike really lowered the stance and still has a beefy look to it... how is that coming by the way?

Had these solid struts on the Sportster when I first got it. First change was to swap them out for some shocks.
Didn't have a sprung seat, so everything was transmitted up the spine.
Solid struts and a small hard seat help you get in touch with the road the same way a cavity helps you get in touch with a bowl of ice cream.

she's not as willing to work on it now that it's cold in the garage. while taking the motor apart we discovered that to split the case we have to get the generator off witch takes a specialpuller with small backward metric thread. finally found someone who makes them for $60. sux to pay for it when I'll probably use it once.
