Default Question: Getting Risers Straight

Wise Ones,

I am having a heck of a time getting my handlebars straight. I have installeda set of 4.5 inch pullbacks with stock lowrider bars on my 07 FXDC. I have tried tightening the bar clamp first before the riser mounts but the bars are still a little off (at least they look off a little to me). I know one of you sages has the trick, please enlighten the grasshopper.

Thanks,
Rick

Never had this problem myself. Surely if you tighten each riser end a bit at a time in turns it will naturally end up straight?

I had the same problem when i put my risers on just make sure the two bolts that hold them to the triple trees are loose and tighten your 4 bar clamps screws down first good and snug don't worry about the position of the bars for now then tighten the two bottom bolts that hold it to the triple trees. then you can go back and loosen the bar clamp and adjust you bars forward or backward to your desired location and tighten them back upand you should be good to go.

Hi KOPPSTER,
Im thinking of puttin 41/2" risers on my 07 FXDC,just wondering did you have any issues with the cables or wiring to short, also any chance of a side photot when you get them fitted.
Cheers

I'm going to replace my mini-apes with lowrider bars and was wondering about what size risers to use. Let me know how you like the 4.5" risers.

I've had the same problem...... never exactly perfectly straight. I believe critter174 is correct.

I have just quit staring at my risers, when I'm going down the interstate

Thanks friends, much appreciation for the advice and experience.

Trotter, I ordered a service manual two weeks ago and am still waiting on the arrival, I will look up the installation procedure. In the interim, I'll go back and try Critter's technique one more time.[8D]
