Congrats !

Dont Sweat the "Deal"....
Ya did your homework and diddnt bite the first hook thrown at ya, so you went in Eyes open.

From your research you will see that if you keep her clean, dont mar/scratch the chrome.... keep it dry and leak free... Keep ALL service records possible and follow the maintance sch., or even service it sooner. ( Previous owner of my bike had the fluids/filter changed every 2000 miles. )
The Bike WILL hold a decent value.

I'd also suggest trying to keep the mileage down, but Hell... we bought them to ride diddnt we ?
( Excellent service records can off-set some milage. )
I try hard to resist the 12 mile run to the Quick-Shop for...... Gum ! Yeah, thats it... I NEEDED some gum !....Lol....

Gotta Love a Dyna !
I think ya'll gonna have a Blast !
Ride Safe, and Be Well.....

Budds...................

As far as what I want... I wanted either a Wide or a Softail Standard and never even considered the FXD, but after checking it out 1st hand and getting a feel of it I do like it a lot.
You keep mentioning softail standard/wide glide. I'm just playing devils advocate here, but it seems to me you're looking at a particular style that includes a wide front end, bobtail fender, forward controls, etc. Seems like you have a pretty good idea of what you want. Do you really want a superglide. I'm not putting down those bikes by any means...I'm just saying that it doesn't seem to be what you're looking for. I know the DWG's are a bit pricey...but I was always under the impression that the softail standards are on the lower end (price wise) of the big twins. Have you looked into them?
Sorry buddy...not trying to confuse you here...just want you to make the right decision for you.

Todd

I'm in total love with my Wide Glide. Whatever you WANT... make it happen.

The continuing saga of Axe's Bike! Pt III.

We closed the deal last night; signed all the papers, got the financing approved, got insurance and made the down payment. Couldn't bring it home because the battery was dead. Pam was all WOOHOO!!!! I was a basket case. Pam wakes me up this morning and before I've even pee'd she says she's afraid and wants to cancel the deal! She explains her point of view and then calls the dealer and tells him she wants to cancel the contract. The GM wasn't there and that's who she needed to talk to, so now she's all weirded out and crying. After 4 hours of talking, trying to help her come to terms with what she wants to do she's still sitting on the fence about it. In the meantime the dealer called back saying he has a buyer for it if she want's out. I tell her that it's more important to me that she's feeling good about this all and if she isn't then we'll blow off the bike, no problem. She goes off into the bedroom for about 30 minutes and comes out and say's, "I've decided to keep it." So I told her to call the dealer... She picks up the phone and dials the number, but doesn't push "Talk", and instead sets the phone back down. I asked her what's going an and she says she's still unsure and afraid. After another hour of talking she wants to cancel the deal. I told her to confirm to the dealer that she wants out. So she calls the guy and tells him that SHE'S DECIDED TO KEEP IT!.

Folks... I am a total wreck. The whole 5 hour process of negotiating with these guys was miserable (I didn't even get a stinkin T-shirt from them). Then she backs out, then she's back in, then out, then in. So keeping it as short as possible (I know... too late) my Harley in now in my back yard (Great day for riding today too!).

If someone ever asked me to do this again I'd shoot them on the spot. I have the bike and I love it, but it was not a pleasurable experience. I'll post some pictures as soon as I'm sure I'll be keeping it.

That's right...what he said ^

How's the weather in AZ today route2???
It's 55 degrees in NJ..and supposed to be this way for a week. This is about as common as a red headed chinese man. And of course....my bike is in the shop having numerous things done..including the recall. I imagine I'll probably get it back next week. I'll bet my house the day I get it back, the weather will go back to being January in Jersey. [:@]

Holy crap man...If I were you, I'd get on that harley and leave town for good. Let the old lady drive someone else crazy. If my wife pulled that stuff, I'd trade her the hell in

after reading that i'd say you better really consider a nice touring seat and backrest.

That or start making your own decision.

LOL couldn't resist.

LOL! I hear ya. This was left to her because initially I quit riding when we were 1st married (back in the 70s) and second because she wanted to do this for my 50th birthday. So I had to let her make the final decisions. And I will stand by what she wants to do... reluctently.

Great questions...

Here's what I was thinking.

There's 1 red flag and it's too late to call, so I'll have to do that tomorrow. I went to the HD site and checked the retail. It's $12,195. Using their payment calculator a brand new Super with a $2000 down shows payments of $183.77 at 9% (72 months) (which is what the salesman was using for an estimate). He quoted me payments of $195-200 for 72 months with $3000 down. So something is wrong with this. He's managed to hike up the price bigtime somewhere. He did offer the 4 year/unlimited milage warranty, but I was under the impression this was included in the $10,955. This has been troubling me some. He said it has current tags, so I don't pay that. Where's the other few thousand coming from? It's almost like my down payment isn't even figured in there.

*shrugs*

The monthly budget is the determining factor ultimately in what I end up with. Ideally we'd like the payments as close to $150 as possible. Definately not over $200. We should have outstanding credit. My house is payed off, and we owe nothing but everyday bills. Nothing on the credit cards, and never a late or no pay.

As far as what I want... I wanted either a Wide or a Softail Standard and never even considered the FXD, but after checking it out 1st hand and getting a feel of it I do like it a lot.
I can't vouch for your numbers, but I will say, the interest charged on a loan for used is usualy substanually higher than for new. This will make a differance in your monthly payments.
