Too much back pain with the drags. Went (going) back to apes. I have tried 4 types of bars now and I have too many aches and pains to not do apes (shoulder height, the taller bars cause my hands to go to sleep).
drags all the way!!! ivee put about 300 miles on since i swapped to drags and my back has never felt better. I think its mostly because my arms are so damn long, i was haning off the apes. now that im reaching forward my back is straight and feels awesome! But hey its all about personal preference, thats what makes us all individuals.

RE: feedback on bars
My cousin has a Road King that he changed over to beach bars. I asked him to bring over his stock bars so I could try them out. What would be really helpful at this point; is finding out what bar/riser combos we could swap for the various models, without changing cables, wires, or brake lines.
06bob,I have wildones chubby's W0560 tbarswith 14.5" pull back.I can lean back and stretch out. If you have long arms you can get tbars with less pullback.

It would nice if it was that simple. After changing my bars so many times and having asked that question before I found you never know really until you have the bars attached and then you can measure. I am pretty sure that the bikes may be the same but the wires and cables are different lengths on each year and or model and or date of production.
I switched from the mini-apes on my 06 WF to the street slammers, more comfortable and better control. I did have to switch out the mirrors to the extended stalk ones (look just like stock ones) cause the drag bars are a little narrower than the apes.
Count me in the mini-ape crowd, but then I have short arms and had to reach too far for long distance comfort with the stock Super Glide bars, even with a 4" pullback riser. I also like the hand positionbetter than buckhorns which are not comfortable to me.My bike's current setup is about as close to perfect as I could ever hope to get it. Hopefully you can get yours to where you're happy with the looks and the feel.Something you might think about when choosing barsis the seat. Different seats can affect how close to the grips you are and can make a big deiffence in how certain bars feel. I change back and forth between two seats depending on how/how far I'm riding, and the feel of the bike is different depending on the seat I'm using at the time.
I \\; have a 1999fxstc and bought a set of wildone 501 chubby bars. Anyone else installed them on a softail? Seems the clutch cable, and throttle cables are too long.Is there a trick to getting the pins out of a plug to fish the wires through the bars? I didnt want to cut my wires if I dont have to. Thanks
