Default Heat shield

First let me say, I know that this post is going to sound a little weird, but I need help. I am a police officer and I ride myStreet Bob to work and I have to wearuniform pants that are not jeans. I have accidently touched my pipes on several occasions and put a hole in the legs. I need to know if anyone has seen a heat shield that can be strapped on to prevent this. The pants cost $75.00 a pair. My supervisor has not said anything but just a matter of time. Yes, I do ride with correct clothing when not on duty.Thanks.

There are a lot of heat shields available, any of the online catalogs should provide suitable clamp on type shields. Good Luck!

I'm not sure any heat shield short of header wrap will keep the pipe cool enough to not melt nylon. I'm in the Air Force and I had the same dilemma on the rare occasions I would ride to work in my blue uniform. The only solution I could find was to tuck the right leg of my pants into my sock. It looks really gay, but I no longer got the crusty melted stains on my pipes or hard scratchy holes in my pants. You coluld always wear chaps if it's not too hot.

Thanks for the replys, Sarge you are right, it burns holes in my pants. The only thing that I found thru Harley are the short rain leggins which are about $45.00 a pair. I was thinking about a piece of leather with velcro to attach to my leg. The idea of tucking them into my socks would really look differant with me riding with my weapon and other gear. I have heats shield on my pipes but they get to hot for the material. Will still be looking. May try and old pair of boots and just use the upper part. Tried to purchase a small piece of leather and they want a fortune. Cannot wear chaps with all the police gear on.

Luther you need to get some of those tall motorcycle patrolman boots or horse riding boots. Your in uniform anyway. I think that would look pretty normal

Lex,
I dont know what year your riding, but theres a recall out for the 08 Dynas for a missing heat sheild.
I've been scorched a couple of times while waiting for the parts to get in the dealer.

I'd say the leather and velcro would be the least obtrusive. Unless you could get some piping put on the chaps to match your uniform

Not sure if you want to do this much work but you can take the heat shields off, wrap the headers with exhaust tape and then re install the heat shields over the tape. That should cool it down enough to keep it from burning your pants.

Since leather is so expensive have you considered maybe using a piece of high grade Vinyl (maybe a local upholstery shop has a scrap for free to a friend in blue) and put velcro on that to attach it. or maybe a plastic soccer shin gaurd? I think those have elastic straps you could face the plastic toward the pipe and the staps on the outside.

do you ride in full uniform? is it possible to ride with a light jacket over your shirt and some leather chaps over the trousers and then store your riding attire in your locker or on the bike?
