I partly agree with you, with that much money invested in something, I want it to look good. But, I want it to primarily look good to me and don't worry so much about what others think. However, I won't put any mod on that is too uncomfortable so I look for compromises. For example, I like the looks of the stock seat or the stock solo bob seat but, for comfort, I'll use a Tallboy seat when needed. Or for bars, I liked the look of drag bars and thought the 6"ers looked best but I found that the 8"ers fit me better so I compromised. IMO, anyone that says image or looks have nothing to do with it at all, is lying to you and themself. Chances are, if they just wanted 2 wheeled transportation and didn't care about what others thought, they'd be riding a ricer.
modified my seat for comfort. changed bars for boty. iso grips for comfort, stettito tips and matching pegs for looks. an in the process of front fender mod, laydown tail-light and fabing a license plate frame all for looks.
