You can try to peel it off a little when hot, then use any cleaner that is not harsh to chrome, when it cool (I use WD40), after that a little wax or chrome polish to the shields, and you are good 'till next time.......... Sorry you are selling.

Thank you all for your answers. If I can't get them off now then something is seriously wrong with me. I hate to seel it. It's my pride and joy and there is no other bike in the world that I would rather have but I recently had back surgery and woke up paralyzed from the chest down so my riding days are over.
